Goalkeeper AJ Marcucci '21 earns All-America honors

Sophomore goalkeeper AJ Marcucci of the Connecticut College men's soccer team has been recognized as the top NCAA Division III goalkeeper in the nation by being the only player at his position to earn a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team. The announcement was made at the Pre-Championships banquet in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Nov. 29.

Marcucci, who was also named the 2018 NESCAC Player of the Year, leads the nation with a .929 save percentage and ranks second with an 0.28 goals against average. He also registered 11 shutouts this season, which ranks sixth in the country, to bring his total to 17 through two seasons of action. The sophomore is the 12th All-America selection in program history and the first Camel men's soccer standout to make the first team since 1993. 

Connecticut College (13-3-2), which earned the right to host NCAA Tournament matches for the first time ever, completed its best season in program history. Under the guidance of Kenny Murphy, who was named the NESCAC Coach of the Year, the Camels set a school record for wins in a season and also won an NCAA postseason match for the first time.
