Eight alumni inducted into Athletics Hall of Fame
Eight athletes, including three who were honored for playing two sports, were inducted April 30 into the Connecticut College Athletics Hall of Fame.
The inductees include Camels standouts who earned All-America and NESCAC honors and set all-time program records.
“We were so proud to honor these former student-athletes who all made such an indelible mark on the Camel community, and, for the first time in several years, to celebrate with them on campus and in person,” said Director of Athletics Mo White.
The new inductees are:
Mizan Ayers ’02, basketball. As a freshman, was the NESCAC Rookie of the Year and point guard on a Conn team that posted a 28-1 record, ranked first in the country and advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament. Graduated as the Camels’ all-time assists leader and was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
Sam Bradford ’82 P’15, rowing. Won a silver medal in the men’s pair division at the 1982 Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships and a bronze in the varsity four without coxswain division at the 1981 IRA National Championships. Earned three medals at the Dad Vail Regatta, the largest intercollegiate rowing event in the United States.
Kelsie Fralick ’15, ice hockey. The goalie graduated with four school records and was first-team All-NESCAC as a senior. Played professionally for the Boston Pride in the inaugural season of the former National Women’s Hockey League.
Ery Largay ’99, ice hockey; sailing. In sailing, competed in six national championships—four women’s, one team race and one single-handed—and was a Women’s All-America Skipper in 1998, and a Women’s All-America Honorable Mention Skipper in 1997 and 1999. Co-captain of the inaugural women’s hockey squad.
Michael LeDuc ’14, cross country; track and field. A three-time national champion, winning the national cross country championship in 2013, as well as the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2013 and 2014 outdoor track and field championships. A nine-time NCAA All-America and a 15-time NCAA Division III Championship qualifier. The only Connecticut College student-athlete to be named an Academic All-American three times by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Sarah Murphy Knortz ’11, swimming and diving. A 2011 All-American after placing third in the 200 butterfly and seventh as a member of the 200 free relay at the NCAA Championships. That same year, led the Camels to a fourth-place finish and the team’s highest point total in school history at the NESCAC Championships. Nine-time All-NESCAC honoree. Held 10 school records at the time of her graduation.
Trevor Prophet ’11, soccer; tennis. Captain of the men’s soccer and tennis programs. Led the soccer team to its first-ever winning record vs. NESCAC competition and led the tennis team to its first winning season since joining the NESCAC.
Caitlin Tomaska ’09, volleyball. The first player in program history to earn NESCAC postseason honors in each of her four seasons, being named to the second all-NESCAC team as a freshman and to the first team the next three seasons. Graduated as the school record holder in kills and digs.
