Camels to race at NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships

Jeffrey Love ’23 helped the Men's Cross Country team secure a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships Nov. 12. The team will compete in the National Championships Nov. 19.

The Connecticut College Men’s Cross Country team will compete in the 2022 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships Nov. 19 in East Lansing, Mich. Two members of the Women’s Cross Country team will also race after qualifying individually.

The Camel men received an at-large invitation and will be making their second team appearance at the championship event and first since 2002. The men’s race will take place at noon on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing, Michigan. Racing will be Matt Carter ’23, Jeffrey Love ’23, Chris Verstandig’ 23, Joe Walewski ’23, Ethan Bush ’24, Brendan Mellitt ’24, Harry Harwood ’25, Blake Rogers ’25, Matt Scardigno ’25 and Jonathan Norton ’26.

The Camels qualified after a fourth-place finish at the Mideast Regionals last weekend. Carter, Love and Norton were recognized as All-Region performers for finishing in the top 35. 

From the women’s team, Julia Curran ’23 and Lauren Hino ’24 were selected to compete based on their strong performances at the regional championships last weekend. Both earned All-Region honors with top 20 finishes. Curran will be making her second appearance at an NCAA championship event after placing 183rd at the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Championships; Hino will be competing in her first NCAA championship event.

The women’s race begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
