8 Camels earn All-New England indoor track and field honors

Malissa Lindsey ’23 breaks school record in the 60-meter dash

Malissa Lindsey ’23 broke a school record and earned All-New England honors with her performance in the 60-meter dash at the NCAA Division III New England Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Colby Feb. 25-26. 

Lindsey finished fourth in the event with a time of 7.77 seconds. The previous Connecticut College record, set in 2015, was 7.93 seconds. 

Lindsey was one of five Camels to turn in All-New England performances at the event. The women’s 4x200 meter relay team, consisting of Erin Fitzpatrick ’22, Ellie Ebby ’22, Lindsey, and Erica MacSweeney ’23, finished in 1:48.22—just shy of the school record of 1:47.42—which earned the team a fifth-place finish and All-New England honors. 

Emma Wheeler ’24 also made the All-New England squad with a seventh-place finish in the pentathlon. Her performance was highlighted by a second-place finish in the shot put. 

The women's team had notable performances in the 4x400 relay and 4x800 relay events and finished 16th overall at the Championships. 

Three members of the men’s team also earned All-New England honors at the NCAA Division III New England Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Middlebury Feb. 25-26. 

Matt Carter ’23 finished second in the 3000-meter run with a personal best time of 8:21.77, while Jeffrey Love ’23 placed sixth with a time of 8:33:29. In the 800-meter event, team captain Ben Vazquez ’22 placed eighth. All three Camels earned All-New England accolades. 

The men’s team finished 18th overall. Select members of the both teams will be back in action at the Tufts Indoor Last Chance meet this weekend in Medford, Massachusetts.
