Update: The Camels remain undefeated after a 3-1 overtime victory over Hamilton in the NESCAC Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday. No. 3-seeded Conn (11-0-5) will play No. 2 Amherst in NESCAC semifinal action at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Middlebury. The game will be streamed live here.

The Connecticut College men’s soccer team has completed the 2023 regular season with 10 wins, five draws and not a single loss—registering the first unbeaten season in program history. The 2021 NCAA Division III national champions are now ranked No. 7 in the country heading into the NESCAC Tournament this weekend.

The Camels came out strong early in the season with wins over non-conference opponents Hartford, Salve Regina, Western New England and Babson, as well as NESCAC challengers Trinity, Hamilton and Amherst. By mid-October, a 3-0 win over the Coast Guard Academy in a New London rivalry game put the Camels at 8-0-3 overall and 3-0-3 in NESCAC play heading into the final stretch.

In back-to-back home games Oct. 14 and 15, the Camels took down Colby 3-0 and battled No. 3-ranked Middlebury to a 1-1 tie. A 1-0 win over Bates on Saturday left the Camels with one game left to close out regular season play.

On Tuesday, the Camels took an early lead against the Wesleyan Cardinals with a penalty kick score by Matt Scoffone ’24 just two minutes into play. Leading point scorer Jake Creus ’24 buried a shot 26 minutes later to put Conn up 2-0, but the Cardinals battled back and the teams played to a 2-2 draw.

Overall, Conn outshot its opponents 248 to 108 and averaged 2.33 goals a game with just 0.73 goals against. Goalkeeper Peter Silvester ’25 started all 15 games and registered a 0.738 save percentage over 1,290 minutes of play.

The Camels, runners up in the last two conference championships, now head into the NESCAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed. They will host sixth-seeded Hamilton in quarterfinal action at noon on Saturday, Oct. 28, on Conn’s Freeman Field, Tempel Green. Fans can watch the game live here.

The women’s soccer team also clinched a NESCAC tournament berth with a strong end-of-the-season run that saw them go 5-1-0 since early October. They notched key wins over NESCAC opponents Williams, Colby, Middlebury and Bates in the back stretch and tied No. 22-ranked Wesleyan 0-0 in the final match of the season. The sixth-seeded Camels (9-5-1 overall, 4-5-1 in NESCAC play) will take on third-seeded Bowdoin in the NESCAC quarterfinals. The game will be played at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, at Tufts University and will be streamed live here.
